Skin tag removal is becoming ever popular due to cosmetic reasons but they are benign skin lesions that can occur for no apparent reason. In some cases although they normally develop on people who are obese or who have Type 2 Diabetes. People with obesity tend to be affected the most due to excess folds of skin such as the underarms or neck where the skin rubs continuously against itself.
They can occur on men and women. As a result of hormonal changes in pregnancy, women can also develop them during this time.
Skin tags are common yet harmless skin growths. They are small, soft, skin coloured collagen fibres that protrude off the skin. They usually occur on underarms, neck, eyelids, around the breast and under the groin.
Can Skin tags become a problem?
They are harmless and don’t cause much discomfort however most skin tags are protruding and as a result can catch onto jewellery/clothing; affected during shaving and affect a persons confidence.
If there is a lack of blood supply, they will tend to fall off themselves.
How can Skin tags be removed?
We recommend you visit your GP in the first instance. We advise you do not attempt to remove them yourself because uncontrolled and excessive bleeding can occur.
Our highly qualified Aesthetic practitioners use a Fibroblast electrode (vaporising the excess skin) to remove the skin lesion safely. For a completely pain free experience, the area can be numbed prior to the procedure for a small additionally cost.
Is it pain free?
Yes. We use a topical anaesthetic at an extra cost before applying the Fibroblast electrode to the skin or alternatively you can opt to have the procedure without anaesthetic.
How many sessions are required?
Multiple lesions can be removed in one session however 2 sessions maybe required depending on the size.
How much is it?
A consultation is required prior to the procedure (fee £25) however, if you decide to go ahead with the procedure, providing you are suitable, the consultation fee is redeemable against the treatment cost if carried out on the same day.
