Not every brown mark is suitable for cosmetic laser treatment. Suspicious, raised, changing or medically unexplained lesions will not be treated.
The Pico laser delivers rapid pulses of energy to the targeted pigment.
This breaks the pigment into smaller particles that can gradually be processed by the body.
Some pigmentation may initially darken or form a light crust before fading.
Melasma is a complex condition influenced by factors including hormones, heat, inflammation and sun exposure.
Laser treatment is not automatically suitable and, in some cases, may trigger worsening or recurrence.
Where melasma is suspected, we will assess your skin carefully and may recommend skincare, sun protection or an alternative treatment plan instead.

Yes, in most cases you will be required to pre-prepare your skin 2-4 weeks before we commence your PICO treatment. You must prepare your skin as advised by your practitioner. This may include:
Tyrosinase inhibitors, topical retinoid and SPF to improve cell turnover, optimise healing and more importantly, to reduce melanocyte stimulation. This is at an additional cost up to £499. Your practitioner can refuse or delay treatment if pre-care is not completed.
Most describe it as a quick, hot pin prick sensation. It is recommended to add on the anaesthetic to the treatment plan.
Some areas clear very well, while others only lighten. Recurrence is possible and complete removal cannot be guaranteed.
It may be possible, but darker skin requires careful assessment because the laser must distinguish between unwanted pigment and the skin’s natural melanin.
