We take a close look at the key to hydrated, flawless skin.
Whether or not you consider yourself to be a skincare buff, chances are you’ll have heard of the skincare powerhouse that is hyaluronic acid, also known as HA. It’s one of the number one must-have ingredients on everyone’s watch list – so much so we even added it to SkinGlo!
So what makes hyaluronic so important?
Hyaluronic acid holds the power to give you smooth, beautiful, hydrated skin
.
Hyaluronic acid is a humectant – it’s something that is used to help prevent the loss of moisture. It acts as a magnet to help cells retain as much as possible.
And in fact, our skin cells naturally produce it in a bid to maintain moisture levels and keep skin healthy and plump.
One gram of hyaluronic acid has the ability to hold up to 6 litres of water. It also helps regulate the moisture within the cells so as not to drown them. That makes hyaluronic a genius ingredient for all of us who want smoother, plumper and happier skin.
As we get older, ageing and environmental factors such as UV rays and pollution can all have an effect on the moisture levels within our skin. This can lead to fine lines, dullness, and uneven texture and tone.
Hydrated skin looks younger, healthier, and super-soft. So it’s important to up your use of hyaluronic acid if you want skin to appear younger for longer.
While it does work well as a moisturiser, it works even better taken as a supplement. Taking hyaluronic acid orally helps stall the declination present in the skin by providing the body with more of it to incorporate all over the body, including the skin. There are several studies[1] showing how supplementing with it can make skin appear smoother.
Why we’ve added it to SkinGlo.
We wanted to help increase hydration in the skin, as we know hydrated skin looks younger and feels softer and plumper. We added hyaluronic acid to SkinGlo to provide the skin with an amazing boost of moisture alongside our hydrolysed marine collagen to keep skin smooth and plump and blend away fine lines and wrinkles.
